From humble beginnings to Sri Lanka's premier game development academy
The Genesis (2017)
GameDev Academy was born from a simple observation: Sri Lanka had incredible gaming talent, but lacked structured pathways to professional development. Our founders, Rashika Perera and Kavith Fernando, both veterans of international game studios, returned home with a mission to change this reality.
What started as weekend workshops in a small Colombo co-working space has evolved into Sri Lanka's most comprehensive game development education platform, with over 500 graduates now working across the global gaming industry.
Growth & Recognition (2018-2022)
By 2019, our programs had gained recognition from major game studios across Asia. We established partnerships with Unity Technologies, Epic Games, and leading mobile game publishers. Our curriculum evolved to match industry demands, incorporating emerging technologies like AR/VR and blockchain gaming.
The COVID-19 pandemic actually accelerated our growth as we pioneered hybrid learning models, allowing students from across Sri Lanka to access our programs. Our graduates began landing positions at major international studios, validating our approach.
